Weekender

On Friday morning while Hubby and I were outside chilling, chatting and drinking coffee we received a phone call letting us know that the BMW was gone. The friend who took the car had been hijacked on Thursday evening and the BMW had been taken. The poor guy had been held up at gun point and forced out the car before being hit on the head with the gun. We felt terrible about it and it put quite a damper on the morning. I felt really sorry for him but also a bit relieved that something like that hadn’t happened while I was driving it. We will have to be really vigilant when we drive the Bakkie around. Things like this make me feel paranoid when I am out and about. After Hubby left I did a few chores and helped Ali with Travis who seemed to be feeling a lot better. Late morning Diane and I went up the road to Margie. We walked up to get some exercise and as it is uphill all the way we were rather hot when we arrived. We chilled by the pool with ice water. Margie and I chatted while Diane had a swim and sunbathed. She wants some colour on that bod before going to Oz.The weather was lovely and sunny and we soon moved into the shade. Diane had another swim just before we left so that she would stay cool on the walk home. Downhill this time luckily. The afternoon was spent having a nap to recuperate from the hot walk, after which I played with Travis while Ali got ready for her weekend. They left at four and Diane and I went to the shop for milk before having our wine under the trees. While we were out we stopped at a friend who looks after dogs for people who are away but unfortunately she doesn’t do it any longer.Hubby got back about six with the bakkie and went to shower and rest as his feet were rather painful. I gave him his supper which he finished as the guy who had borrowed the moby jack returned it and stayed chatting for an hour or so. I cleaned the kitchen and watched TV in-between doing my crossword puzzle. There was thunder and lightning around but no rain.
Saturday we were up as usual having our chill time outside. Hubby made us a breakfast of bacon and egg which we ate under the trees after which I phoned another friend about looking after the dogs. She is away at the same time and the two other people she knows are busy with house sitting at that time. I did a couple of loads of washing before Diane and I popped into Meyerton. I needed to renew Hubbys prescription of his everyday medication. I counted the days and the medicine will last till the day after we get back. Thank goodness! One less thing to worry about. I also got the dogs monthly tablets against ticks and fleas. We stopped at the library to check about house sitters but no luck. Trevor up the road has said he will sleep here but we still need someone to feed the dogs. A friend has said his son will housesit and feed the animals if we can’t get anyone. We stopped at the supermarket and got Rotis for lunch. After lunch we all had a nap. When I surfaced the sky was black and thunder was rumbling in the distance. I watched TV before making us all coffee. A light rain started when I put supper on. Hubby’s sister-in-law and her daughter popped in for a quick visit on their way home from a wedding at the Vaal. They wanted to say bye before we leave but we will be seeing them next week as Margaret is looking after Diane’s fish while we are away. After supper I quickly cleaned the kitchen before we watched TV. We watched Step Brothers which was hilarious. We had our Milo before going to bed.
On Sunday the dogs woke me before six to go out. I wasn’t too pleased as our sleep had been constantly interrupted thanks to the dogs next door who didn’t want to shut up. Hubby actually got up about three to go and shout at them. Hubby was up already watching TV as his legs were paining and he couldn’t sleep. I let the dogs out and went back to bed. I got up at seven and had my coffee outside. It was a lovely morning with the sun shining in a clear blue sky. I really needed my chill time today. Hubby had already made himself breakfast as he knew Diane and I were going into Alberton to meet Pauline. I washed towels and then I took the curtains down in our bedroom and put them to wash so that I could hang them out before leaving. We left for Alberton at about 9.40am and arrived as Pauline got there and met at the Coffee Shop. Pauline and I had a scrambled egg and salmon breakfast with coffee while Diane had a vegetarian breakfast and hot chocolate. We had a good morning chilling over our meal and afterwards wandered around the shops. While we were eating I received an sms telling me that Trevor is unable to house sit. Wonderful! We said bye to each other and after doing some gift shopping Diane and I left for home. Hubby phoned as we were on the way out to ask me to get him a Roti again as he had enjoyed his one yesterday so much. Our afternoon was spent packing our suitcases ready for Oz. We made a list of what is still needed as we packed so we don’t forget things. Once that was done I carried on cleaning our bedroom. Hubby has stacks of magazines and books and I told him to clear them away so I could clean. When we cleaned the bookshelves in the passage we had one shelf at the bottom with nothing on it as we had got rid of books not worth keeping. I was furious when I caught Hubby putting his stuff there as I knew he hadn’t bothered dusting them first. I told him I would rather throw them away then put dirty books on the shelf. I mean REALLY! If we can do it so can he. Hubby made supper while I carried on cleaning. I cleaned just the one section as the other part has the TV and I didn’t want to interrupt his nightly viewing. I will do the rest tomorrow when he isn’t here to rescue any junk that needs to be tossed. At least this is the last room to be cleaned and all will be done before we leave. Diane is busy making the Milo now and then we can post the blog. Can’t believe it! Just One Week Till We Leave. I hope we can sort out the house sitter soon.Cheers ! Hope you have a good week.
