The Weekend
Was up early Saturday to a fairly mild but windy morning. When I took Hubby his breakfast he told me he was going to his Tit Meeting later. I took Diane her tea and told her that seeing as Hubby was off to his meeting we should go see a movie. It had been a while since our last movie. We spent the morning cleaning getting ready for our week with Travis. Hubby left about half ten to visit friends until time for his Meet. Diane and I got ready and left about one for The Glen. First thing we did was get tickets for `Killer’ before going to The Ocean Basket for lunch. I had prawns and rice with a glass of wine. Diane had sushi with her drink. We both enjoyed the food. Not many places can beat The Ocean Basket for prawns. The vibe of the World Cup at the centre was incredible and we sat in the sun enjoying it and the warmth even though the wind was rather chilly. We finished our meal just in time to get to our seats and sit as the movie started. It was a good movie and we were glad we had decided to make the effort to get out. After the movie we went for coffee and cheesecake at Mugg & Bean before going shopping to find shoes for Hubby. It is not easy finding the right shoes for a diabetic that don’t have hard seams or pieces inside that jut out. We went through nearly every shoe shop before managing to find shoes that were soft and smooth inside. It was already dark when we left and we were home just before seven. After having something to drink we both showered. I wrapped myself in a sleeping bag to watch TV and promptly fell asleep, waking just after twelve, as Diane was finishing watching her final movie. After taking the dogs out we both went to bed.
Luckily I had been sleeping because I had a very uncomfortable night sandwiched between the two dogs. I woke several times aching from lying in one position too long and had to force the dogs to move so I could.
Sunday morning Hubby woke me with coffee about half seven. I could see it was a sunny day so was pleased as Diane and I wanted to go for a hike. When I got up, after having breakfast and a lie-in to read some more of my book, I was most upset to see that it was almost a howling gale outside. There was a layer of leaves and dust everywhere and even though it was sunny the weather was very chilly. We have both got sinus at the moment and going out in that wind would have been a disaster so we decided to wait till lunchtime to see if the wind would drop. No such luck as the wind was even worse by then. Instead we spent the day alternately reading, napping and watching TV. I watched the repeat of the game between England and America. That must have been One Very Unpopular Goalie at half time. We showered early again so that we could watch TV all wrapped up warm. `17 Again’ was on and I thoroughly enjoyed watching one of Diane’s favourite hotties Zac Effron. After the movie we spent time on the computer before going to bed about twelve.
All for now. Have a Great Week. We will be off to fetch Travis. I am looking forward to having him here again.

Busy Times
Friday was up to a chilly day again with Travis. We had our morning cuppa together before we fed the dogs and made breakfast. I cleared all Travis’s washing and put it out to dry before going outside with Travis. He was tired and fell asleep about eleven and I quickly did some cleaning and made him lunch before he woke at half twelve. He ate his fish fingers but just poked disgustedly at his vegies. After he had finished eating Diane took him for a walk while I packed his things ready to leave for Ali. We left just after one and were lucky to have a clear run through again. Before we got to Ali we stopped at KFC for some food which we ate when we got to her. After eating Ali made us a drink and we sat outside with Travis while he played. It was just after three thirty when we left for home – what luck – another clear run through on the highway. Our arrival coincided perfectly with time for a glass of wine. The peace was pleasant but I was already missing Travis. We spent the evening alternating with cleaning and working on the computer going to bed fairly early around ten. When I went to let the dogs out for the final time of the evening the outside dogs were going mad at the fence and the next door dogs were also carrying on. I checked but could see nothing. Hubby went to check on things while I phoned the neighbours to see that all was OK. Can you believe it! They hadn’t even noticed the noise. We went to bed after setting the alarm for three forty five. I took ages to fall asleep as the dogs carried on with their noise for quite a while.
Saturday early morning was absolutely freezing when the alarm woke me. I quickly made coffee and teas before waking Hubby and Diane. I got dressed and then fed the dogs while they got themselves ready. We left about twenty to five and stopped to put petrol in the Deke and buy sandwiches for the road. Diane was all cosy on the back seat with her duvet and pillow while I wrapped myself in a little blanket. We arrived in Alberton about five fifteen and as we drove in Hubby remarked that we were a bit early. When I asked what he meant he informed me that the meeting time had been changed from five to five forty five. I was really p**d off as we could have stayed asleep about an extra half hour. After sitting waiting and freezing I was relieved when we were joined by the other two Dekes and we carried on to the next meeting point just past Kempton. I tried to doze but was so cold and Hubby kept talking so it was impossible. After leaving the next Meeting Point there were five Dekes in convoy. Just before Pretoria the leading Deke pulled into the Petroport where we had another meeting point. Going in Convoy can be a real pain when there are so many different meeting spots as they waste so much time. Diane and I went into the Quik Shop and got ourselves and Hubby a rusk and cappuccino. We drank it outside in the sun while saying Hi to all and sundry. We left not long after eight and now had fifteen Dekes in the convoy. After turning off at Bela Bela we had another wait for two more Dekes coming from the Polokwane side. It was a relief when we eventually arrived shortly after nine and parked all the Dekes together. Diane and I immediately went exploring after saying Hi to those DKW club members who had stayed overnight. Klein Kariba was an absolutely stunning spot with spectacular scenery. After our exploration we went back to the Dekes where an urn for coffee and tea with rusks had been set up. After having our drink we joined Hubby and friends for a chat before we went on another walk around. Hubby joined us and we climbed up a path through the trees on the Kopje above the cars. At the top were a group of Dassies sunning themselves. Diane managed to get some pics of them before they disappeared. We walked around the top of the kopje making our way back down to the cars. Several people went off to swim in the hot baths – there were four of them plus an indoor pool. Hubby rejoined some friends and Diane and I decided to walk down to the little dam where there were pedal boat rides. We had our pedal around for half an hour. It is amazing how long half an hour can be when you are pedalling almost non-stop. We only had a few brief stops for Diane to take pics. I told her we must keep pedalling to make up for the rides we had missed during the week. Hubby phoned while we were on the boat to see if we minded if he joined his friends for breakfast. Silly question! Of course we didn’t. We finished our pedal and made our way back arriving about a quarter to twelve. Hubby and friends were just finishing their meal. After chatting a while Diane and I went in to quench our thirst with rock shandies before ordering something to eat. Diane got herself a plate of chips while I had chicken schnitzel and chips with a glass of red wine. Diane finished off with a strawberry cocktail while I had a coffee. Outside the restaurant was a swing bridge across to the waterfall and we made our way over it to go take more pics. There was a steep stairway up to the next level and we felt the effects of our pedal as we neared the top. We took a breather at the top while taking pics before making our way back down to the bridge. Crossing the bridge Diane decided to jump up and down in the middle to set it swinging. When I eventually managed to get over it I couldn’t believe the effect of it. My head felt as if it was next to me as I tried to walk. It was the most weirdest feeling. We joined the others back at the cars where Diane took pics while Hubby and I chatted to friends. We left soon after going for a drive around the place before making our way out. Near the entrance were some bokkies and a group of zebra. Diane got out and took pics. The zebra were very tame and didn’t even worry about her being so close. Going home was so much quicker seeing that it was only us and no convoy. We stopped to get salads for supper and food for Sunday on the way. When we got back I went and had a nap as I was feeling very tired. I was up just after eight to watch ` Eragon’ with Diane followed by `Suspect’. It was about midnight when I went to bed. Diane had gone while `Suspect’ was on and Hubby had gone to sleep hours ago.

Lazy Weekend
Saturday morning was up as usual to another clear day. It was strange to have no Travis to see to and I missed having my morning cuppa with him. The house was too quiet. I was still feeling rather drained after all the running around so after doing the week’s blog the rest of the day was spent sitting on the computer in between cleaning up after Hurricane Travis. Hubby spent the day at the workshop as there was a rush job that had come in. Late afternoon Diane and I had our glass of wine while sitting at the computer. It was almost dark when Hubby eventually arrived home and after supper we all chilled in front of the TV watching ‘Everything you Want’ with our ‘can’t-do-without’ Milo.
Sunday morning Hubby bought me a cup of coffee at eight after which I was up to see to the dogs and tidy the kitchen before getting ready to meet friends at ‘The Circus Coffee Shop’. We were due to meet at half nine but as Godfrey is notoriously late we only left at half nine to go for a coffee while we waited for him and Sandy. We sat chilling outside under the trees where plenty of others had the same idea as the place was packed. It was lovely and peaceful under the trees in the sun with the birds singing above us though there was a chill wind which meant the jackets had to stay on. Hubby and I had our coffee and chatted, chatted and chatted some more. Godfrey broke his record of arriving late when they eventually pitched up at half ten. We ordered our breakfast and spent a good morning chatting and eating. The breakfast crowd had left and the lunch time crowd had arrived (some had even left already) when we finally said goodbye after one. Hubby and I quickly went shopping as we needed air time for the computer among other things. It was well after two by the time we got home and after unpacking the shopping and checking out what Diane had achieved on the computer I went to lie down and read. We had our glass of wine late afternoon and an early light supper. We watched ‘Keeping up with the Steins’ on TV after which we were all in bed early. I had needed the whole weekend to recover from the after effects of looking after Travis. I can see why it is better to have children when you are young and energetic enough to look after them. I was nineteen when I had my first and twenty one my second. Looking after them was a breeze. My third was at thirty three and fourth at thirty five and I got tired much more easily. The saying that older parents are more patient is not true. They just don’t have the energy to run after the kids. Grandparents have the best of both worlds. They have the grandchildren to stay but then they go back to Mommy & Daddy when Granny needs a rest.
Monday morning was another lovely clear day but the wind chill factor was another matter. It was really icy even when we went for our ride mid-morning. The day was spent getting organised in the office for statements which are due this week. All is on track and I am ready to start them now.The garden is really looking good after all the rain we had over the rainy season. There are still flowers everywhere and the plants are teeming with insects and birds all making the most of the last feeding frenzy. Some of the Acacia trees are already full of blossoms and they are just a mass of bees collecting pollen. The noise coming from them is unbelievable. To sit outside in the lunchtime sun and listen as well as watch all that’s going on is such an experience. Monday evening was spent in the usual routine of supper and TV. We watched ‘The Painted Veil’ which was well worth watching while having our usual Milo before going to bed around twelve.Cheers and enjoy the rest of your week.

Another Great Weekend
Saturday was up early as usual to another beautiful morning. After having breakfast and getting ready we left about nine for the Dullstroom area where we had a get-together with the Marketing Manager of ‘Kloppenheim Country Estate’ ’ to discuss having an old car event at their venue. When we left we had jackets on as, though it was a sunny morning, the wind was chilly. By the time we were approaching the Belfast area we had taken our jackets off as it was really warm in the car. All of a sudden a low, dark cloud blew across the sun and the sun disappeared from view. We arrived at Klppenheim and got out the car, discovering how cold and windy it was. We put on our jackets before going in for our meeting. While Hubby started the meeting Diane and I wandered around the place taking pics. The Estate was right up in the mountains. The main building and the surrounding views were absolutely stunning. The place was built by a German who originally came from Kloppenheim in Germany. The huge wooden doors to the place are unbelievable. We joined Hubby once we had enough pics and were then taken on a tour of the place. Downstairs was an English-style pub and huge wine cellar. The main floor had a library and various lounge areas as well as the restaurant and private dining room. Down a passage we were shown the old photos, displayed on the wall, from Kloppenheim in Germany dating from 1897 to about 1913. The place is absolutely magnificent and we enjoyed our brief visit there. We left for Dullstroom where we wanted to stock up on trout again and have lunch. This time we stopped at one of the pubs, the Flying Dutchman, to eat. When we got out the car we couldn’t believe how cold it was. The entire area was blanketed by a low, thick cloud and mist. Inside the pub it was lovely and warm. There was no electricity in the place so certain items on the menu were not available -trout – so I settled for a lamb curry. Hubby had a steak and Diane had a meal of chips with veggies. My lamb curry was delicious and had so much meat in it with not a single bone. I had my usual glass of wine while Hubby had coffee and Diane had a pot of tea. When the meal was over the waitress bought the bill and I put my card on the table to pay while Diane and Hubby went around the shops. The waitress came back and when she saw my card said they couldn’t accept it as they needed electricity to process it. Disaster! I phoned Hubby and he sent Diane back with the cash he had on him. With the cash I had and his we had just enough to pay for the meal and give the tip. Talk about Luck – for us, them and the waitress. The freezing weather hit us the moment we stepped outside and Boy! Was it freezing? We wandered around a few shops but the whole town had no electricity and not one place had a generator so we were unable to get any trout. The decision was made to head for Millys to shop there instead. We arrived about four and went in to the restaurant for a coffee and piece of cheesecake which unfortunately was not a patch on that we had at Feast in Parys. Hubby rushed off to stock up on trout and we left about half four for home. Both Diane and I were absolutely frozen because our jackets were only lightweight ones. It was dark just after five due to the cloud cover. We stopped once on the way back for petrol and to put oil in the car. It was half seven when we got home and though it wasn’t as cold as the Dullstroom area it was cold enough. I hadn’t warmed up the entire trip back. We spent the evening bundled up in front of the TV having our Milo.

Sunday morning Hubby left about half six for his monthly Piston Ring Meet. Diane and I surfaced at eight and had a leisurely morning having breakfast and getting ready for our hike. It was another lovely sunny day. Val and Kim arrived at half ten and we all left to go on the hike. We arrived just after eleven and joined all the other hikers on the 4.5km hike. There were plenty of people out on the trail enjoying the lovely weather. We made our way around enjoying the company and sun and stopping at all the viewpoints. After we had completed the trail we went into the restaurant where we had lunch. Val, Kim and I had poached hake while Diane had the vegetable curry. Kim ordered chips with her fish while Val and I asked for the potato wedges. When the food arrived we were disappointed to see the waiter had not listened. Kim only had chips and we only had veggies. He said it would take a while as the wedges would have to be made so we settled for him giving us chips and Val shared her veggies with Kim. Apart from that the meal was good and we had a good laugh about the veggies/wedges misunderstanding. When we had finished the meal we went for a quick walk around the 1km trail behind the hotel before driving briefly through the reserve and then heading home. Val and Kim left and Diane and I decided to have a nap. We surfaced around six and once supper was over spent the evening watching TV before eventually going to bed around one.Cheers and have a good week.

Wow of a Weekend
Saturday morning was woken just before six by thunder rumbling all around. I couldn’t believe it. What is this weather trying to do these days? By the time I got up the rain had started and it was really cold again. Speaking to others around we discovered Alberton and other areas close by had started to clear so we got ourselves ready for Turfontein. We left around ten and luckily the closer we got the better the weather looked. After parking in the designated spot at the Race Course we had a wander around. People were pouring in and the place was getting busy. There were a lot of stalls to buy from as well as plenty of activity for the kids with everything from swings to jumping castles and various other rides. We found ourselves a spot in the VIP tent which was laid out with a mouth-watering display of food ready for lunch. Diane and I wandered around taking pics while Hubby went off to say Hi to his buddy, the jockey, who was racing there. A lot of cultural entertainment was laid on to keep everyone busy in between the racing. We had the Chinese Dragon Dance, Greek Dancers throwing plates as well as the Portuguese Dancers which were all very colourful. Lunch was around one and we all tucked into the meal. Starters were a variety of fish dishes, salads and cold meats. The main course was a huge choice of hot dishes, Roast meats and veggies. Dessert was a delicious choice from fruit salad to malva pudding to mousse. Needless to say we thoroughly enjoyed the meal which we had with a glass of wine. Hubby and Godfrey went off to have a little flutter on the races while Diane and I took more pics. We were on the spot when one of the Punters and a Course Official had a minor spat which added spice to the day. Another bystander informed us “He (the official) is always here and fights with everybody, even me”. We had to laugh. About half three the clouds thickened and a light rain started falling so we decided to make tracks for home. The day at the races had been fun and it bought back many memories of going to the races in Bulawayo as a teenager. When we got home Diane and I checked the pics she had taken before putting thick jackets on ready for our evening at Lusito Land. The rain had cleared but it was really cold by then.
Lusito Land was packed with plenty of people still arriving for the evening entertainment. Enterprising hawkers were peddling plastic bags to put over your shoes to protect them from the mud inside. We (stupidly) laughed and ignored them. About half the people going in were buying them. Once inside, too late, we realised how bad the mud was. The ground had been churned up into an absolute quagmire and walking around was a slow process. First stop was the stage area where the place was getting set-up for ‘Chix with Stix’. What an amazing group! Their beat reverberated right through the body. It was impossible to keep still. All too soon their performance was over and the stage was then readied for the Main Performer of the night. The one and only Danny K. I couldn’t believe all the screaming that greeted his appearance. He really wowed the Lusito Landers and kept them screaming for what seemed like FOREVER. In the end, in the interests of self-preservation, I plugged my ears with bits of rolled up tissue. Can you believe it even Diane was screaming and dancing? In between taking pics of course. I must admit to doing some dancing too but definitely no screaming. All-in-all it was an absolutely fantastic evening with an incredible vibe. Everybody! I Mean EVERYBODY enjoyed the entertainment. After Danny K had been spirited away Diane and I went to get a much needed coke. On the way out of the place a security guard stopped us to say we couldn’t take alcohol out into the general area. He didn’t believe us, and we couldn’t believe him, when he stopped two guys also going out. He ACTUALLY asked them to taste our drinks to confirm they were plain cokes. Luckily for us the one guy said he would just sniff at them and he was able to verify that they were indeed plain cokes. Once we had finished them we decided to leave for home. Our shoes and the bottom of our jeans were a lovely brown when we left. The enterprising hawkers were now peddling ‘Clean your shoes for R2’ while holding a bucket of water and a cloth. When we got home, where Hubby was chilling in front of the TV, we spent an hour or so excitedly checking Diane’s pics. After our usual Milo we went to bed where I was only able to read for about five minutes. I was just too tired to keep my eyes open.
Sunday was a real Chill day. Murphy’s Law. It was a lovely sunny day though of course cold. I was only up late after having breakfast in bed made by Hubby as usual. I cleared some washing which sort of dried as the air is still very moist though the wind helped. Diane and I spent most of the day going through the pics and I then did the blog. Diane is now watching a movie on TV. Once I have uploaded the latest blog, and had our glass of wine, I will do an early supper after which Diane and I will watch a movie while Hubby doses up with his usual Food or Discovery programmes. And, of course, we will be having our usual Milo while doing so. Hope you had a Fantastic Weekend and have a Good Week.

Wings and Wheels
At last we have our computer back and we will now be able to get our lives (the Blog) back on track. Unbelievable how we have come to rely on our trusty (maybe not so trusty) computers and make them such an important part of our lives. In situations like this the withdrawal symptoms are not a pretty sight. I can now say ‘been there, done that’ and I definitely hope it never happens again.Saturday the 17th dawned bright and clear, though chilly. We were all up early and were ready to leave just before eight. It was ‘Wings and Wheels’ day in Parys at the local airport – an annual event on the car club calendar. After filling up the deke with petrol we met up with others going and set off in a convoy of six old cars. As we got closer to Parys the sky darkened and it turned rather chilly. We arrived just after nine and when we got out the car realised just how cold it was. Diane and I were a mass of goose bumps and of course had not even thought to take jackets. The guys started setting up the gazebos in front of the cars and Diane and I went shopping among the stalls in the flea market looking for jackets. Imagine our delight on finding exactly what we needed at our first stop. We put them on immediately and gradually warmed up. After wandering around through the stalls we returned to the group where the cooking of breakfast was underway. The breakfast of bacon, eggs, rolls etc was delicious. There were fourteen of us in the group and we had a great time laughing, joking and enjoying our breakfast together. While eating a group of microlites were performing above us. Once breakfast was over Diane and I went wandering through the planes taking pics. By now the weather had really warmed up and the clouds had lifted. Our jackets were no longer needed and we stuck them in the car boot. The aerobatic show started at half eleven with the Spitfires up first. Next were the Harvards. There were seven of them that took to the air and flew past several times before two of them left flying back to Krugersdorp. One landed and the other four proceeded to thrill the crowd with their performance. Several other planes also took to the air for a thrilling display. I really love watching them – those pilots are unbelievable and must have nerves of steel to do what they do. After taking tons of pics Diane and I went wandering through the stalls again getting us all a packet of chips and some donuts. Hubby joined us to stroll through the cars and motorbikes on display while we ate our chips and had a juice. It was nearly three when we left Parys and on the way home we ate our donuts which were so fresh and delicious it was lucky I had bought two each. When we reached home we unpacked the car before having a nap. Once we were up we had our usual chill with a glass of wine. The evening was spent watching TV, reading and mourning the loss of the computer.
Sunday morning was another great day. Hubby left before six for the Piston Ring monthly meet. He is paranoid about being late. Goodness knows why as the meets only really start about eight. Diane and I were up around nine and after the normal chores we had breakfast (for energy) before leaving to go hiking. We started the hike just after eleven. It was a beautiful day and there were a lot of people on the trail. The wind was blowing and as it was keeping us cool, we were very grateful. Along the way we had several short breathers and as it was cool we didn’t bother to stop in the usual spot for our snack but kept going. Before starting the hike we had decided that this time we were sticking to the 10km route and afterwards we were going to go to the coffee shop to try it out.
When we reached the 10km pointer we could see a couple of hikers not too far in front of us who were making their way up the kopje along the trail. We stopped for a breather before following them. Thank goodness we did have our breather! The trail went up and up and up. We climbed for about an hour with several stops to rest and check the views. The higher we climbed, the more stunning the views. We caught up with the other hikers who were having a break on a rocky outcrop. They carried on and we stopped for another breather in the same spot. We could see for absolute miles and where we had started climbing wasn’t even in sight any more. Such a beautiful spot and so close to Jhb centre. Unbelievable and Oh So worth the climb. By now the clouds had started to build up and we could hear thunder in the distance. Not long after we reached the top and had a straight walk across before starting the descent. On the way down my knee started to pain. I must have twisted it somewhere along the way. Every now and then was a slight uphill and my knee would be fine but as soon as we started down the pain would flare up again. This slowed us down somewhat and by the time we eventually reached the end of the hike it was rather swollen. There was a brief flurry of rain as we walked the last part along the road but by the time we reached the coffee shop at three it was over. We settled down at a table on the verandah outside and ordered a coffee for me and tea for Diane. While waiting for that we browsed through the menu and decided on a malva pudding for me and chocolate mousse for Diane. We deserved it after all our strenuous exercise. The coffee shop was part of the Protea Suikerbosrand Hotel and the menu was really extensive. Our next hike will start earlier so that we are finished by lunchtime ready to relax and have a good lunch at the coffee shop. While we were sitting there the rain started in earnest but as we were sitting under a huge umbrella we stayed dry. As we finished the wind started gusting, leaves were blowing everywhere and it was really cold. The umbrella started moving along in its base. We hurried inside where we got the bill and told the waiter he needed to take the umbrella down before it caused damage or tore in the wind. On the way home the heavens really opened and we could hardly see to drive. When we reached home the rain had eased off but the bottom of the road was flooded. The rain continued on and off for the night and the weather remained really cold and overcast. We spent the evening in front of the TV with our usual Milo watching ‘He’s just not that into you’ which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Chilled Weekend
Saturday morning dawned bright and clear. I was up early to sort out the dogs and make breakfast so as to be finished in time for our visit from Ali and Travis. The dogs were away and we were eagerly awaiting the visit when they arrived just after eight. Travis was as happy to see us as we were to see him. Ali had been going to bring him a few weeks ago but at the last minute was called in to work.No sooner had they arrived then Hubby took him out to the play area where he had an absolute whale of a time for well over an hour. His favourite spot was the sandpit where he kept trying to empty the sand over the edge onto the grass. Every time Ali went around to stop him he would laugh and run to the other side where he knew he was safe. The one time Ali managed to grab him she tried to take the spade away for him but he dug his heels in and hung on with both hands. It was hilarious to watch especially as Travis won that battle. We moved inside to have a cuppa and Ali washed him down in a bucket to get rid of all the sand. After the cuppa Ali left to join her friend. Travis was more than happy to wave bye and carry on running around. Hubby had his monthly Tit Car meeting and he left for that going in my Sunbeam. His friend Don went with him. Diane and I took some pics of Travis and went down to the swing to give him a push. He fell asleep on my lap while we were on the swing. I put him down to sleep and joined him for a nap. An hour and a half later he woke up and I made him some lunch which he polished off immediately. He must have been hungry after his hectic morning. We spent the rest of the time together playing and running around outside chasing the dogs. He discovered my pink wire flamingo under the trees and spent ages walking around with it though he battled as it was taller than him .Ali came back late afternoon and after visiting for about an hour they left for home. The house looked as if a hurricane had swept through it and I quickly vacuumed. Once this was done Diane and I chilled with a glass of wine to relax after the hectic day. Hubby arrived home after six and Don came in for a coffee which extended into an evening visit. Don left after eight and we had a snack before chilling in front of the TV for the rest of the night.
Sunday was my usual breakfast in bed which Hubby made about half eight. It was a lovely morning again with plenty of birds serenading us in the trees outside the bedroom window. It was nearly ten before I got up to load the dishwasher and clear the kitchen. After feeding the dogs I cleared some washing and late morning Diane and I went into Meyerton. We did shopping at the grocery store before getting Hubby’s medication and fish platters for lunch. The afternoon was spent chilling, reading and napping. We had flapjacks and cuppocino before Diane and I went for a cycle around the area. It was wonderful to be able to get on the bikes and go again. The last two weeks has been continuous bad weather and we were unable to go at all. Our ride took us an hour and we really got in some good exercise. It was chill time with our wine when we got back. Our fish lunch had been huge so we weren’t hungry – except Hubby of course - who had a snack. Diane and I chilled in front of the TV watching the Sunday night movie which was `The Proposal’ with Sandra Bullock. It was hilarious and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a late nightcap before going off to bed. I was too tired to even look at my book.
Have a good week.

Chill Weekend/ Stressful Week
Had a really good chill weekend doing absolutely nothing but the bare necessities and chilling with my book. The weather was good and Diane and I enjoyed our chill times outside making the most of the good weather while it lasts. We went for a half hour walk on Saturday morning and on Sunday afternoon went for an hour ride around the area. There were a lot of guinea fowl around and at one time a large group of about eleven rushed out from the grass and ran along in front of us for a short while before breaking into flight. They really are amusing to watch. It was chill time with a glass of wine after the ride before having an evening in front of the TV while Hubby made supper. Went to bed late as usual after having the inevitable Milo.Monday morning was able to chill outside again as the weather was still good. Once breakfast was over and Hubby had left the pace changed. I got stuck into my statements and spent the morning on the computer. My ink was running low on the printer so after lunch we quickly went into Meyerton to get a new cartridge so that I could finish. We also did some shopping for the essentials of bread and milk etc. When we got back I continued and also faxed what I could via the computer before the weather turned bad and there was a lot of thunder and lightning around. Our afternoon ride was out as a fine rain started so we chilled with a glass of wine in front of the TV where we spent the evening. The rain was so fine it didn’t actually measure in the rain gauge but the storm activity kept us off the computer.
The weather was overcast and chilly on Tuesday morning and I just had a quick cuppa while making breakfast. I sorted out what needed faxing from the workshop and we went into Alberton early to fax from the workshop. Wonderful! Alberton had no power. The roads into the workshop were a nightmare as every single one was a four way stop which slowed and backed up the traffic. Diane and I left Hubby at the workshop and went down to Alberton City where luckily most shops had generators. We spent over an hour at Game trying to sort out the new printer which does all but print from emails. The Wonderful technician had no way of testing that so told us we must have connected our cables incorrectly and to go try the printer again. We realized how clued up he was when he tried to check the printer by opening the sms box. What a waste of time and so frustrating! We left there and went to console ourselves with a plate of Aroma Fries and a cappuccino. After a call to Hubby we learnt the power was still off so quickly went to the Sars office to sort out a query which took almost an hour with the queuing time. We really do waste so much time in queues! The power was still off so we picked up Hubby and headed home. The day had remained overcast and cool and the rain started again just after we reached home so no computer again.
Wednesday morning it was still cool and overcast so I quickly put some washing on before trying to fax the remaining statements on the computer. The connection kept disconnecting because of the weather and half the statements couldn’t go through as there was no response from the other end. Alberton’s power was only back on mid-morning. Customers were complaining bitterly as their work was taking longer than normal to get done but with no power what did they expect! Miracles! Hubby has decided it is time he organized a generator for there. The bad weather started again during the afternoon and we had to put the computer off again. I started with cleaning so that all would be clean for the long weekend.
Thursday was another frustrating day of bad weather, bad computer connections and cleaning. I spent part of the morning following up on slow paying customers as well as quickly going into the bank and doing some shopping for the long weekend. Diane managed to get most of the faxing done but there is still a few outstanding which will have to wait for next week. At least the house and cottage was all cleaned for the weekend and most of the month end office work finished. During the afternoon I went outside to the braai area and couldn’t believe how windy it was. The wind was whipping the top of the trees and a sudden gust sent swirling clouds of leaves and dust all around me. I could hardly see through it all. It is amazing how quickly the trees are losing their leaves.
Good Friday started well with Hubby bringing me breakfast in bed after which I chilled with him watching some TV before getting up to feed the dogs and clean the kitchen. `Philadelphia‘ was on TV and ended up watching it. I had never bothered before as it didn’t appeal to me but I really enjoyed watching it. Tom Hanks is an outstanding actor and was really impressive in the role. We spent the rest of the day lazing around as it was very chilly and windy with intermittent rain. Hubby’s foot was throbbing and after taking painkillers he rested it. I made spaghetti bolognaise for supper using wheat-free pasta I found which we had with a glass of wine. Diane enjoyed it but I wasn’t too sure whether I liked it or not. Hubby doesn’t like this sort of pasta and always moans when I use the low Gi variety but I was most surprised when he said how good the meal was. In fact he enjoyed it so much he went to the garage to buy us some chocolate to end off the meal in the right way. I didn’t complain. We spent the rest of the evening watching TV. `Flyboys’ was on again and we were able to watch the entire movie – before we had only managed to see the last part of it. Those guys had guts flying those planes during the First World War.
Well that’s all for now. Enjoy the rest of the Easter Weekend.

Good start to the Long Weekend
It was a windy, overcast morning again when the alarm woke me up. I sat looking outside in the cottage lounge with my wake-up cuppa and noticed the leaves on the mulberry tree are turning yellow. Autumn is officially here. Hubby left for the Piston Ring as soon as breakfast was over - about eight- and Diane and I got ready for our day out. We were ready to leave just before ten but before leaving phoned Hubby to see how the highway had been on his way through. He said it had been a clear run all the way through so we decided to go on the highway and not through the back roads. We had a good run until joining the highway just before Germiston where as we rounded to join the N3 from the R59 the five lanes suddenly became one about half a Km in front of us. The traffic was at a standstill and the traffic stood unmoving. Eventually I turned off the car as most people around had done. People were even getting out their vehicles and walking around. It was ridiculous! After about fifteen minutes the cars started moving and within minutes were through. A second lane had been opened and once five lanes had managed to squeeze into two we all moved fast and within five minutes had parked at Bedford Centre where even though it was almost eleven the parking area was almost empty. I remarked to Diane that everyone must be stuck on the highway. We made our way across to the Mugg and Bean where Pauline, Val and Kim had got a table for all of us. Pauline had been stuck in a road block coming from the other direction so also had only just arrived. We had coffees and breakfast while Diane and I heard all about their stay in Prague. The trip was Pauline’s second but Val’s first and she had also loved the history all around the city. I really want to go back there and hopefully will do so within the next year. Hubby wants to go to friends in America and me to Prague with Diane so we have agreed to do so.After our breakfast we wandered around the centre for awhile and then went through to the new section which Pauline hadn’t seen before. After shopping at Clicks we parted ways as Pauline had parked on the opposite side to Val and myself. Val was off to see Swan Lake in the city centre at three and as it was almost one we decided to go up to Vida E Café for something to drink while waiting until it was nearer to three. We all had Frios which were delicious while chatting and listening to the guy playing the piano right next to the Café. The music reminded me of Richard Clayderman’s playing. After finishing our drinks Diane and I left for Eastgate while Val and Kim went off to their ballet. At Eastgate we went into Game to see about an upgrade phone for myself. The computer was down so we were told to wait half an hour. We spent the time wandering around the store buying a lightweight cooler bag ready for our hikes. When we got back to the cellular bar at two fifty the lady had just started dealing with us when the power in the centre went off. Within minutes the generator had kicked in but only for part of the store. The lady went off to another section to use the copy machine but came back asking us to wait as it was not working yet. We sat around until about four before the lady was able to finalize everything and were able to leave about half four. When we got home the weather wasn’t too bad and Diane and I chilled with a glass of wine before going for a ride. This time we went for an even longer distance which took us forty minutes to complete. After recovering I made supper after which we chilled watching `Apartment 12’ followed by `Lipstick’. The first was a good comedy and the second was very inspirational. I set my alarm for four on Sunday morning as Hubby wanted to be up early for his Piston Ring meeting and read for a short while before putting the light off around half twelve.

Chill Weekend
Was up early to have my chill cuppa under the trees before starting to get ready for lunch with Dennis and Marion. I finished breakfast and put the chicken in the oven. While it roasted I put potatoes on and made a coleslaw. Hubby went to the shop to get milk and some odds and ends he wanted. I finished cleaning up and put the other vegs on to cook. When the chicken was nearly ready I put some cocktail sausages to cook while that finished. When both were done I took them out to cool and then put them on a platter in the fridge till needed. The rice and pumpkin were done and on the stove keeping hot. Dennis and Marion arrived and we chilled with a glass of wine outside. It was a beautiful day with the sun shining in a clear sky. We were all enjoying our chill and conversation under the trees. Marion asked Hubby for a second glass of wine. Hubby was busy telling a story and just reached over to grab a bottle and started pouring. He got rather a shock when Marion yelled `No’ – he was pouring whiskey into her glass. Once we were back on track with our second glass in our hand I put the rest of the food on to cook. Once all was ready Diane and I put everything into serving bowls and we all tucked in. We ate under the trees and sat for several hours lingering at the table enjoying each other’s company. Once the main course had time to settle I served the dessert. Diane left just before three to go into Alberton where she was meeting a friend for coffee at News Café. At about four we had coffee and carried on with our chill around the table. We went through all our Oz holiday pics and Dennis and Marion told us of their trip they are taking this week in Israel which they are really looking forward to. Both of them commented on our lush garden and how peaceful it was sitting under the trees with the background of bird song. Comments like this are always a reminder of how lucky we are in our little spot of paradise. It was after five before a move was made and Dennis and Marion went off home. I cleared up and loaded the dishwasher. Just had to wash the pots. It was all done by six and then Hubby and I chilled in front of the TV. Diane had such a god time that she only got home around nine. We chilled and chatted with our Milo until bedtime.
On Sunday Hubby woke me when he bought me breakfast in bed just before nine. We chatted for a while after which he got himself ready to go to the Sunbeam Club meeting – taking my Sunbeam of course. Diane and I had planned a hike so didn’t go with. By the time Diane and I were up and finished doing minor chores it was twelve. I was feeling rather lazy so suggested having the hike during the week and was rather put out when she laughed and said her friend had taken a bet with her that I would back out. That Did It! We got ready and left for Suikerbosrand but unfortunately went to the wrong entrance for the hikes and were re-directed to the correct one. By the time we eventually got inside and started our hike it was nearly two and rather a hot day. We set off for the start which had two hikes marked, a 4,5 km and a 10km one. Stupidly we thought `what’s the point of doing the short one and we have plenty of time’. The hike started with a steep climb and before we reached the top I was huffing and puffing. I couldn’t believe how unfit I was, considering how fit I was when we got back from Oz, after our daily walks there. But as Diane said the walks were along flat ground and we hadn’t done much exercise since. Before we were half way up we were making inroads into our first bottle of water. It was a relief when we finally reached the top after about half an hour. The path leveled out and I was able to catch my breath. The views were stunning up there. We crossed the ridge and started going down. When I got ready I had put on old socks that were rather loose and had thought about taking a spare pair but didn’t bother. Always Trust Your Instincts! My socks kept slipping down and I was having to stop to pull them up as it was uncomfortable. We crossed the road and went onto the next Koppie where we stopped in an open rocky area for a sit down and to take pics while having a drink and a couple of chocolates (to keep energy levels up). The hiking shoes we had bought were very comfortable, just a pity about my lousy socks. We set off again going on down and around to the right where we met up with the road again. This time we didn’t cross it but walked alongside before cutting back towards the next Koppie. We were still going down but could see the path going up in front of us on the next Koppie. As we walked along we were keeping up a steady stream of chatter but were bought to a sudden halt and silence when we heard a grunting noise in front of us and to the right. We stood frozen for several minutes listening but heard nothing more. The noise must have come from the gully at the bottom between the two Koppies. I told Diane we just had to go on - to go back all the way we had just come would take too long – so we carefully and quickly crossed the gully and up the other side. My sore heel didn’t stop me making good time up and over the top. We carried on up and down, up and down expecting to see the parking area with the car waiting for us each time we got to the top of a rise. Eventually at about half four we passed a sign indicating a 10km hike to the right and a 17km hike to the left, and panicked thinking we had gone wrong somewhere. After a slight detour to the road on the right we retraced our steps and carried on going forward where we found the path indicators again. The area was now just a large expanse of open veld and we were now doing a power walk to get back and out before the gate closed. There was a small group of buck to the left of us. We crossed the road again and then a small stream after which we were back on the road where we decided to stay, hoping we were going in the right direction. A couple of cars passed us and as we were in a flat out panic now we stopped one to ask if we were going in the right direction. What a Relief to find we were and even better the couple gave us a lift back to the car. The distance they took us would have been at least a half hour walk so we were very relieved and grateful to our rescuers. We got in the car and headed straight to the gate where they were busy closing up. We got home and while Diane got ready for a night out I told Hubby all about our hike. When Diane was ready the two of us chilled outside with a much needed glass of wine. My heel was killing me where my sock had rubbed it raw but I felt really good after all the exercise. We must definitely have more hikes, but will leave early in the morning to do it. After Diane went out I tended to my heel before chilling in front of the TV.
That’s all for now. Hav
e a great week.
Leaving Teens Behind
Was up for my chill under the trees which, unfortunately, never happened as the morning was rather chilly and windy. Instead I sat inside looking through the lounge window. The mornings are starting to get really chilly now and it feels as if autumn is fast approaching. Summer sped by with few really hot days due to all the rain. Not that I am complaining as the garden really benefitted this year – I have never seen it so thick and lush as it is now. I marvel at it every time I sit outside and appreciate all the rain received.
Today was the day Diane left her teens behind (by rights she should only celebrate tonight as that’s when she was born). I took her a cuppa in bed and wished her Happy Birthday after giving her present to her. My last one has now left the teens behind. A momentous occasion for her (I hope) and a sad one for me as it is a reminder of time passing and age creeping up. For me that is of course. Oh to be twenty again! After doing a bit of office/computer work Diane and I went in to watch ` The Princess and the Frog’, it was a cute movie which we both enjoyed. After our movie we headed off to Il Fornos to get some lunch. We started off with rock shandies and a foccacia bread. Our meal was Portuguese Peri Peri Chicken Livers for me and crumbed mushrooms for Diane. My meal was Hot but absolutely delicious. The finishing touch was cappuccinos for both of us. While we were there we booked for our get-together meal for the family to celebrate with Diane on Friday night. Leaving there we headed up to the workshop where after checking on things we left taking Hubby with us as he wanted to take his DKW in on Friday to put new white wall tyres on it. We stopped at his friend’s garage to see all his cars – Lancias, Alfas, an F1 Maclaren and a Masserati. The cars were fabulous! When we left Hubby drove as I wasn’t feeling too well (sinus). I spent the evening dozing on and off after taking some tablets. Diane spent the evening on the computer. About eleven thirty I got up to take the dogs out before locking up. I couldn’t even face the thought of a Milo and just went straight back to bed.
Friday morning I was up early for my chill outside as usual. The morning was chilly but not windy so I sat outside for awhile before starting the morning routine. Still wasn’t feeling too good though and took more tablets. I spent the morning doing some cleaning, resting and reading. I really am enjoying `Peking’ though not as much as `Saigon’. Hubby was home late afternoon in time to get ready for our night out. We left just before six (booking was for half six). The traffic was light so we were there in plenty of time for the meal. Everyone had arrived by seven and we chilled, drinking and chatting until we were ready to order food. Hubby and I had Lamb Curry while everyone else had Pizza. This was followed by more drinks and cappuccinos. We had such a good time that the oldies only left about half nine and the rest went on to party at Barrels. Hubby and I chilled with more coffee in front of the TV for the rest of the evening. I went to bed about half eleven and carried on reading before falling asleep. Diane and Co partied until about three after which Diane spent the rest of the night (morning) at Julie’s place.
On Saturday I was up for my chill time outside and was greeted by a beautiful day again. The trees were full of birds – I spotted some bulbuls, a pair of sunbirds and plenty of weavers as well as the usual doves and sparrows. They all seemed to be welcoming the day with me. It was very peaceful and energizing. After breakfast was over I spent some time cleaning before going in to town, with Hubby, for some much needed grocery shopping and replenishing Hubby’s medical necessities for his toe. When we got back we off loaded the shopping and packed everything away before I carried on reading my book. Lunch time Hubby made us wors and salad rolls which were really good. I read a short while longer before going into Alberton to fetch Diane. It was well after three by the time we got back home. Diane watched some TV and I carried on reading (I just can’t seem to put `Peking’ down). After supper we watched` Coyote Ugly’ on TV having our usual Milo. Sitting there I felt my foot starting to get really painful and couldn’t find a comfortable way to sit- it is still rather swollen after my fall and seems to get worse if I drive too much. Eventually I took an anti-inflammatory as I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep if I didn’t take something. Diane carried on watching TV while I went to bed to read while waiting for the tablet to take effect. I must say Hubby and I are really a pair of old crocks these days.
Sunday morning Hubby woke me about six when he was getting ready to leave for his Piston Ring Meet. (He dropped something and the crash woke me) He left and I went back to sleep eventually surfacing about half nine. I had my cup of coffee sitting outside on another beautiful day in paradise. I sat for nearly an hour enjoying the peace and tranquility. I passed the day doing some washing in-between reading my book which I’m happy to say is nearly finished. Hubby was home early afternoon and spent the rest of the afternoon resting his foot which is very swollen and red again. I made a meal of chops, roast potatoes and vegs after which I loaded the dishwasher and cleaned pots. Diane and I watched `The secret life of bees’ and then Diane watched `Confessions of a Shopaholic’ while I cleared my ironing. Once the movie was over Diane made our Milo before going off to bed. I went to bed to read and managed to finish my book about one. I must see if I can find anything more by Anthony Grey as I really enjoy his books. They are gripping right from the beginning. The last few days have seemed very quiet and we are missing Wayne Big Time. Cheers and have a Fantastic Week .

Weekender

On Friday morning while Hubby and I were outside chilling, chatting and drinking coffee we received a phone call letting us know that the BMW was gone. The friend who took the car had been hijacked on Thursday evening and the BMW had been taken. The poor guy had been held up at gun point and forced out the car before being hit on the head with the gun. We felt terrible about it and it put quite a damper on the morning. I felt really sorry for him but also a bit relieved that something like that hadn’t happened while I was driving it. We will have to be really vigilant when we drive the Bakkie around. Things like this make me feel paranoid when I am out and about. After Hubby left I did a few chores and helped Ali with Travis who seemed to be feeling a lot better. Late morning Diane and I went up the road to Margie. We walked up to get some exercise and as it is uphill all the way we were rather hot when we arrived. We chilled by the pool with ice water. Margie and I chatted while Diane had a swim and sunbathed. She wants some colour on that bod before going to Oz.The weather was lovely and sunny and we soon moved into the shade. Diane had another swim just before we left so that she would stay cool on the walk home. Downhill this time luckily. The afternoon was spent having a nap to recuperate from the hot walk, after which I played with Travis while Ali got ready for her weekend. They left at four and Diane and I went to the shop for milk before having our wine under the trees. While we were out we stopped at a friend who looks after dogs for people who are away but unfortunately she doesn’t do it any longer.Hubby got back about six with the bakkie and went to shower and rest as his feet were rather painful. I gave him his supper which he finished as the guy who had borrowed the moby jack returned it and stayed chatting for an hour or so. I cleaned the kitchen and watched TV in-between doing my crossword puzzle. There was thunder and lightning around but no rain.
Saturday we were up as usual having our chill time outside. Hubby made us a breakfast of bacon and egg which we ate under the trees after which I phoned another friend about looking after the dogs. She is away at the same time and the two other people she knows are busy with house sitting at that time. I did a couple of loads of washing before Diane and I popped into Meyerton. I needed to renew Hubbys prescription of his everyday medication. I counted the days and the medicine will last till the day after we get back. Thank goodness! One less thing to worry about. I also got the dogs monthly tablets against ticks and fleas. We stopped at the library to check about house sitters but no luck. Trevor up the road has said he will sleep here but we still need someone to feed the dogs. A friend has said his son will housesit and feed the animals if we can’t get anyone. We stopped at the supermarket and got Rotis for lunch. After lunch we all had a nap. When I surfaced the sky was black and thunder was rumbling in the distance. I watched TV before making us all coffee. A light rain started when I put supper on. Hubby’s sister-in-law and her daughter popped in for a quick visit on their way home from a wedding at the Vaal. They wanted to say bye before we leave but we will be seeing them next week as Margaret is looking after Diane’s fish while we are away. After supper I quickly cleaned the kitchen before we watched TV. We watched Step Brothers which was hilarious. We had our Milo before going to bed.
On Sunday the dogs woke me before six to go out. I wasn’t too pleased as our sleep had been constantly interrupted thanks to the dogs next door who didn’t want to shut up. Hubby actually got up about three to go and shout at them. Hubby was up already watching TV as his legs were paining and he couldn’t sleep. I let the dogs out and went back to bed. I got up at seven and had my coffee outside. It was a lovely morning with the sun shining in a clear blue sky. I really needed my chill time today. Hubby had already made himself breakfast as he knew Diane and I were going into Alberton to meet Pauline. I washed towels and then I took the curtains down in our bedroom and put them to wash so that I could hang them out before leaving. We left for Alberton at about 9.40am and arrived as Pauline got there and met at the Coffee Shop. Pauline and I had a scrambled egg and salmon breakfast with coffee while Diane had a vegetarian breakfast and hot chocolate. We had a good morning chilling over our meal and afterwards wandered around the shops. While we were eating I received an sms telling me that Trevor is unable to house sit. Wonderful! We said bye to each other and after doing some gift shopping Diane and I left for home. Hubby phoned as we were on the way out to ask me to get him a Roti again as he had enjoyed his one yesterday so much. Our afternoon was spent packing our suitcases ready for Oz. We made a list of what is still needed as we packed so we don’t forget things. Once that was done I carried on cleaning our bedroom. Hubby has stacks of magazines and books and I told him to clear them away so I could clean. When we cleaned the bookshelves in the passage we had one shelf at the bottom with nothing on it as we had got rid of books not worth keeping. I was furious when I caught Hubby putting his stuff there as I knew he hadn’t bothered dusting them first. I told him I would rather throw them away then put dirty books on the shelf. I mean REALLY! If we can do it so can he. Hubby made supper while I carried on cleaning. I cleaned just the one section as the other part has the TV and I didn’t want to interrupt his nightly viewing. I will do the rest tomorrow when he isn’t here to rescue any junk that needs to be tossed. At least this is the last room to be cleaned and all will be done before we leave. Diane is busy making the Milo now and then we can post the blog. Can’t believe it! Just One Week Till We Leave. I hope we can sort out the house sitter soon.Cheers ! Hope you have a good week.

Our Weekend
Saturday
I was up early as usual to another overcast morning. Ali was already leaving for her weekend and after putting Travis in the car said bye. I had my coffee chilling outside. I had my second cup out there before doing my blog quickly.
Hubby left for the workshop after breakfast so Diane and I decided to get on with some more cleaning. I put washing on hoping it would stay clear long enough to dry. Luckily we had no rain and I managed to clear all my washing. The weather was still clear to I started doing my lounge curtains. We finished the bathroom – it is amazing how many almost empty containers of cream, shampoo etc. accumulate. We were very ruthless and got rid of plenty.
We stopped several times throughout the day to chill outside with a cup of something. Got to keep up the energy and motivation. Hubby phoned late afternoon to say he was with his friend at the hospital.
The friend had been at the bank that morning and his bakkie was stolen. The police took him back to his workshop. Hubby stopped to see him on his way home. The friend was still very upset and being agitated was not concentrating so cut himself while using his saw. Hubby took him to the hospital as the cut was rather bad. They did x-rays to check that the bone had not been cut and then gave him six stitches. Hubby took him home afterwards and arrived home at six.
By now Diane and I had finally finished so we decided to get ready and go to the German Deli which had advertised a Halloween Evening. We thought it would be fun to see the costumes. Hubby just wanted to rest after his busy day so just the two of us went.
Most of the people were dressed up with a few ghosts and skeletons among the kids who left to go `trick or treat’ down the road. Diane and I went to see about ordering food. They said they would be braaing shortly so we got ourselves a cooldrink and sat down to drink it and wait for the food. I certainly didn’t feel like going home and cooking. After about an hour they asked us what we wanted to order. We placed our order and ordered a drink to have with the food. The food was really good and we enjoyed the evening – the people were really friendly. As I was the only one there without little children dressed up I was asked to pick names out the hat for the kids to get the prizes. We left shortly afterwards to go home and give Hubby his food.
We watched a bit of TV but as we were both tired were in bed by 10.30pm.
Sunday
I was up early to let the dogs out and chill outside with my coffee. No lying in today as we had too much to do. I cleared my ironing and vacuumed and mopped the rest of the bedrooms and guest loo. All the lounge curtains were down and clean so I moved all the furniture away from the windows to start cleaning. I quickly cleaned the fan and lights as well as the wall above the windows and the rails.
By now it was time to shower and get dressed to leave for Bedford Centre where we were going to meet my sister and her daughter for coffee. Hubby chilled at home to rest his foot and we left. We arrived at 10.30am on the dot and went in to the Mugg and Bean. Sis and Kim were already there. We ordered coffees and breakfast. Well at least Val and I did. Diane had a salad and Kim had flap jacks. We spent an agreeable time chatting and eating before going around the shops. I decided to look for a cami and was pleased to find what I wanted at the first place I tried. We walked across to Exclusive Books where we said goodbye to each other. Diane and I went in for a quick browse and each bought a book after which we left for home.
We arrived back at half one and decided to have a rest before carrying on with the lounge. When we got up we chilled under the trees with a Milo before starting the lounge. Hubby made supper as we were still busy and I must say he made a delicious supper. Diane and I had ours outside with a glass of wine each. We then carried on cleaning. Diane did the kitchen while I did the lounge. We stopped to watch the movie at eight which was a comedy. The lounge was eventually finished at half eleven. Everything in there is clean now from cushions to the pictures and it looks good. Diane and I gave the bar a quick clean before going to bed. It was no good leaving that dirty as dirt would just tramp into the lounge.
Well that was our weekend. Work, work and more work but at least we still had time to chill and enjoy ourselves.
Cheers and have a good week. Two weeks to go and we are in Oz!
