Woke up to the alarm at 6.00am as usual. Didn’t sleep to well again as worrying about hubby. Let spoilt brats out. Put the kettle on but no morning pick-me-up under the tree today. Too flippin cold. Unbelievable how the weather can change overnight. Mustn’t complain though – we did get some much needed rain - 8ml – it all helps.
Chilled in front of the TV checking the state of affairs around the world. Phoned the hospital to hear that hubby didn’t have a very good night and was waiting to see the doctor. Started my monthly invoices and statements. Made good time with them.
Alison went off to visit hubby for the morning visiting hours while I watched Travis. Luckily he was tired and fell asleep almost immediately so was able to finish the statements to be faxed. Ali got back with the latest news. No change just hubby was hoping to be out of ICU. Also had instructions to take slippers as hubby insisted on getting up for the bathroom and sisters were not happy for him to walk barefoot.
Ate lunch. Diane and I rushed off to visit for the afternoon hour stopping to buy slippers – can’t let people see those scruffy slippers of his. I mean really doll!!!!
Found a nice pair at the shops – brown to go with his blue pajamas. Neat hey. It was the only pair in his size so what was I supposed to do? He was happy and that was the main thing.
Unfortunately hubby wasn’t feeling good as lying in bed with tubes does not make for comfort. All vital signs were good according to the machines so I felt a lot better. Spent a good hour with hubby. Left for the workshop to fax my statements. Oh clever one. I found I had forgotten my phonebook with the fax numbers. Managed to find some numbers there and faxed what I could.
Back to the hospital ready for the night visit. We were early so had coffee in the hospital cafeteria with friends who were also there – one had just visited hubby and the other ready to visit with us. Ali also arrived and the four of us went in to visit. Another friend also popped in. Things were getting crowded and as rules are ‘2 persons per patient’ us girls went out to allow the men some Men Time. We stood outside with Ali as she wanted a smoke (filthy habit). No sooner were we out there than two others pitched up and went in. The two in came out and joined us for a chat – only 2 per patient you know.
While we were all there three more pitched up and went in. Two came out to make space for the three. Talk about ridiculous. Another visitor arrived. Two came out and two were in with hubby. By now we were having a lovely time outside – all 9 of us. Time was passing so Diane and I went in to hubby to say bye. Ali went in to say bye and then we continued our party outside for another half hour. A lovely time was had by all.
It was now late and much too late to go home and cook so five of us stopped at Mike’s Kitchen where we had a really pleasant hour with a very friendly waiter.
The girls and I are now home and ready to retire after kind Diane makes the Milo’s. She is such a lovely girl don’t you agree?
So all in all the day wasn’t too bad. We stressed, we chilled and we spent a pleasant time with friends.
That’s all till tomorrow.
