Monday morning woke up to a cold, overcast day though blue was about in small patches. Checked my washing on the line but due to all the moisture around it was still rather wet so I left it out there. Had my chill cup of coffee in front of the window watching the birds flitting around in the trees. Half way through making breakfast I realised it was raining. The washing was already wetter so I just left it thinking the rain would soon stop. WRONG! It rained all day and most of the night. The washing had the best rinse ever and eventually dried by Tuesday evening. Diane and I spent the day working on the computers and I also did office work sorting out the remaining statements for faxing. Mid- morning I quickly went into Meyerton to the chemist and to get some bread and milk. During the afternoon I started a casserole for supper. It was the perfect weather for one as with all the wet around the temperature was icy.
Tuesday stayed just as cold and was overcast though the rain seemed to have stopped. Spent the morning occupied with office work again. Early afternoon we went into Heidelberg. My certificate was ready to be picked up. I had applied the end of February and went in taking a chance as I had not received an sms yet. The guy at Home Affairs said it had arrived but though on the system no-one had had time to send an sms yet. I checked the date on the certificate and it was stamped 9th March. I wonder where it has been lying around since then. The efficiency is much to be admired. After collecting the certificate Diane and I went to the local mall to do some shopping. After browsing through the various shops we went into the supermarket for groceries. It was late when we arrived home in time for a glass of wine. Our daily dose of heart medication has now to be drunk inside in front of the TV as it is just Too Cold to even contemplate sitting outside.
Wednesday morning I spent the morning cleaning and doing computer work while Diane did her computer work. I also cleared some washing (I dread winter and the cold because that washing basket fills up so quickly with all the necessary layers one has to wear). After lunch we went into Brackenhurst where Diane had an appointment. While she was busy I shopped at Woolworths where I found some really great veggie packs picking up a mixture of couscous with various chopped veg and some fruit. It was really colourful. It was time for wine again when we got home. Hubby arrived home just as we were finishing the wine saying his friends were popping in around seven to look at his cars. Luckily it was not yet six and Diane, who had decided she felt energetic enough to make supper, had already got herself organised. Supper was stir-fried vegs in wraps (with stir-fried chicken for Hubby and I) and it was all prepared and eaten within half an hour. Surprisingly Hubby said how much he had enjoyed the food. He usually a meat and potato man. The friends arrived and while they all talked cars outside Diane and I watched ‘The Mentalist’. Once they were inside I made everybody coffee/tea and they all sat talking in the cottage while Diane and I chilled in front of the TV with our Milo. The cold must have driven them away early because they left about half nine.
Thursday morning dawned with a blue sky and sun shining though of course still really cold. I cleared more washing and continued cleaning. I only do a small amount at a time as I’ve said before “Housework makes you Ugly”. Lunchtime Diane made up the couscous mixture. Four mins in the microwave- perfect kind of meal to make. The food was absolutely delicious and the veg and fruit was a perfect blend of flavours. Will definitely be back at Woolworths to buy that again. Late afternoon Diane and I went for a ride on our bikes. What a pleasure to have suitable riding weather again. Hope the weather stays clear for a while now so we can keep up the riding. The evening was our usual routine of supper and watching TV with our Milo. The weather is very icy now and even lunchtime the layers are staying on. There have been several cold fronts already. It looks like we are in for a long and cold winter.
